Songjiang, once called Huating in ancient times, also known as Yunjian, Rongcheng, and Gushui, is a famous town south of the Yangtze River. In 751 of the Tang Dynasty, Songjiang was named Huating County. In 1277 during the Yuan Dynasty, it was named Huating Prefecture, which was changed to Songjiang Prefecture the next year. Then in 1805 in the Qing Dynasty, it was developed into Songjiang Prefecture with Huating, Shanghai, Qingpu, 🌸Lou, Fengxian, Jinshan, Nanhui, and Chuansha Counties subject to it. In 1912, when the prefecture was abolished, Huating and Lou were merged into Huating County of Jiangsu Province. In 1914, Huating County was changed to Songjiang County. After liberation, the area became Songjiang Special District. In March 1958, it was merged into Suzhou Special District, and in November, Songjiang became a county of Shanghai. Then in February 1998, the State Council approved Songjiang to be a district.

Located in the southwest of Shanghai in the Yangtze Delta area, at 121.45°E and 31°N, and along the upper and middle reaches of the Huangpu River, Songjiang is a core area to Shanghai and the Yangtze Delta region thanks to it♋s transportation network, including the Shanghai-Hangzhou High-speed Railway, Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou High-speed Railway, G60 Hu-Kun Expressway (Hu-Hang Expressway), G50 Hu-Yu Expressway (Hu-Qing-Ping Expressway), G1503 Shanghai Ring Expressway (Tong-San Nation🍌al Highway), G15 Shen-Hai Expressway (Jia-Jin Expressway), S32 Shen-Jia-Hu Expressway (Airport Expressway), Metro Line 9 and Line 22. With a pleasant northern subtropical monsoon climate, Songjiang enjoys four distinct seasons and abundant rainfall. Its summer is hot and humid, while winter is cold and dry. In 2021, the average temperature was significantly higher, with increased precipitation and normal sunshine. The average annual temperature was 18.2 degrees Celsius, 2.0 degrees higher than average. The city had 1,864.0 hours of sunshine, 65.0 hours higher than average, and 1,560.5 millꦬimeters of rainfall, 392.3 millimeters higher than average. The highest temperature was 36.7 degrees Celsius and the lowest was -7.5 degrees Celsius.

松江区(qu)水(shui)源地保护属黄(huang)浦江水(shui)体，上受淀山湖、太湖、浙北天目山𒁃等处来(lai)水(shui)，经黄(huang)浦江下泄入江海。境区(qu)河渠(qu)纵橫，养鱼池无数，是典(dian)范的水(shui)网地区(qu)。一(yi)切湖泊均(jun)系感潮河道治理，每白(bai)昼(zhou)黑夜涨、落(luo)各2次。

Songjiang’s water resources come from the Huangpu River, which gets its water from Dianshanꦗ Lake, Taihu Lake, and Tianmu Mountain in Zhejiang Province, and then pours into the sea. All the rivers in the area are tidal, the tides rise and fall twice every day and night.

The evaluation of urban digital transformation in 2021 ranked third in Shanghai. There are 12 hills in the park, stretching their way from the southwest to the northeast, like a string of jade pearls with a total length of 13km, offering Shanghai’s flat land a mountainous view. In June 1993, the former National Ministry of Forestry approved the establishment of Sheshan National Forest Park. In 2001, it wasღ honored as one of the first national 4A-level touring sites. The scenic spots that opened to the public are East Sheshan Hill Park, West Sheshan Hill Park, Tianmashan Hill Park, and Xiaokunshan Hill Park.

济南辰(chen)(c𝔉hen)山作物园地处(chu)松江(jiang)区佘山部委市场旅游度假内（辰(chen)(chen)花一级公路(lu)3888号(hao)），是市政管理府(fu)、在我国科学(xue)的(de)(de)(de)院和部委农业局的(de)(d𒈔e)(de)合作双拥共(gong)建(jian)的(de)(de)(de)集科研工(gong)作、科晋和观赏树木(mu)一游于(yu)内置(zhi)式的(de)(de)(de)全方位的(de)(de)(de)性(xing)树🐼木(mu)园，土地(di)征用绿地(di)面积207公(gong)亩,是(shi)华中(zhong)中(zhong)南部面积极大的苔(tai)藓(xian)森林(lin)公园(yuan)。苔(tai)藓(xian)森林(lin)公园(yuan)区的辰山(⭕shan)古遗迹，2014年4月被市政道路府对外公布为佛(fo)山市文物爱护爱护机关单(dan)位。该(gai)遗存2009期初(chu)看见，的(de)面积约为16公倾，开始鉴别为商(shang)周阶(jie)段文言文化遗迹。

Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden is in Sheshan National Tourist Resort (No.3888 Chenhua Highway). It is created through ꦇcollaboration between the Shanghai Municipal Government, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and the State Forestry Administration, which combines scientific research, popular science, and sightseeing purpose. This remarkable 207-hectare botanical garden is the largest one in East China. Chenshan Ancient Site in the garden was announced by Shanghai Municipal Government as a cultural relics protection unit of Shanghai in April 2014. The site was first found in early 2009, covering an area of about 16 hectares. It is preliminarily determined to be an ancient cultural site in the Shang and Zhou dynasties.

The botanical garden consists of four functional areas: the central exhibition area, the plant conservation area, the plant areas on five continents, and the peripheral buffer zone. The exhibition greenhouse covers an area of 12,608 square meters. It consists 💃of Tropical Flower and Fruit Museum, Sand Botany Museum, and Exotic Botany Museum. It is the largest exhibition greenhouse group in Asia. Among them, Sand Botany Museum is the largest indoor sand botany exhibition hall in the world. Now Chenshan Botanical Garden is a nation♏al 4A-level scenic spot.

Established in 1978, Shanghai Square Pagoda Park covers an area of 182 mu. Its original site was the downtown of Huating during the Tang and Song Dynasties. There are 8 national, municipal, and district unmovable cultural relics in the park, including Xingshengjiao Temple Pagoda, which was announced as national key cultural relics protection u♛nit by the State Council in November 1996; Lanrui Hall, Screen Wall of Engraved Bricks, Chen Huacheng Memorial Temple, Temple of the Queen of Heaven and Wangxian Bridge were announced as Shanghai municipal cultural relics protection unit in April 2014, Stone Statues of Ming Dynasty, Front Hall of Zhang’s Residence were announced as Songjiang district relics protection unit in June 2013.

The entire landscape is centered on the Square Pagoda of Northern Song Dynasty, surrounded by the Wangxian Bridge of Southern Song Dynasty, Screen Wall of Engraved Bricks of Ming Dynasty, Lan🅺rui Hall, stone carving garden, Temple of the Queen of Heaven, Chen Huacheng Memori🌜al Hall, Helou Veranda, Qichang Corridor and so on. The park is rated as a national 4A-level scenic spot.

天津醉白池附近公园

Shanghai Zuibaichi Park

With an area of 76 mu, Shanghai Zuibaichi Park is one of the five ancient gardens in Shanghai. There are two immovable cultural relics in the park, including Zuibaichi, which was announced as Shanghai municipal cultural relics protec🥀tion unit in April 2014; Woodcarving Hall, which was announced as Songjiang County Cultural Relics Protection Unit in July 1985. The predecessor of the garden was Guyang Garden, the residence of Zhu Zhichun, a jinshi (a successful candidate in the highest imperial examinations) in the Song Dynasty. The garden was also a place for Dong Qichang (a famous calligrapher and painter in Ming Dynasty) to drink and write poems. 370 years ago, during the period of Shunzhi of the Qing Dynasty, it was a private villa of Gu Dashen, chief of the Ministry of Works, he rebuilt the garden and changed its name to “Zuibaichi” because he worshipped Bai Juyi (poet of the Tang dynasty). The garden has many pavilions, terraces, and open halls such as Letian Xuan (a small room or veranda with windows) of the Song Dynasty, Simian (four sides) Ha💖ll, Yi Fang (a boat-shaped building), Reading Hall of the Ming Dynasty, and Cottage above the Pool, Xuehai Hall, Baocheng Building, Woodcarving Hall of the Qing Dynasty. Art treasures such as stone carvings of Zhao Mengfu's calligraphy authentic works “Visit to the Red Cliff” of Yuan Dynasty and steles of “Portraits of Excellent Talents in Yunjian” of Qing Dynasty are collected in the park. There are countless contemporary calligraphers’ inscribed tablets and couplets hanging in the park. Now the park is rated as a national 4A-level scenic spot.

G🎃uangfulin Site of Ancient Culture is in the north of Songjiang New City, it spans Longyuan Road to the east, Guangfulin Road to the south, Shenjing River to the west, and North Yinze Road to the north. Covering an area of about 850 mu, it is the most abundant and valuable among 29 cultural sites in Shanghai. There are three immovable cultural relics on the site, including Guangfulin Site of Ancient Culture, which was announced as national key cultural relics protection unit by the State Council in May 2013; Chen Zilong Tomb, which was announced as Shanghai municipal cultural relics protection♛ unit in November 1987; Zhiye Bridge, which was announced as Songjiang district cultural relics protection point in January 2016.

The site takes the protection zone of the archaeological site as its core and presents its original form with farming ecological culture and authentic rural scenery. The profound culture is the core competitiveness of Guangfulin, w൲hich includes a cultural display area, a folk display area, a religious display area, an archeological site exhibition hall, and a porcelain kiln exhibition hall. Guangfulin echoes Songjiang Prefectural City, Songjian🥀g City of Warehouse, Sijing Ancient Town, and other historical and cultural scenes, which has become the destination of the “Root-seeking Journey of Profound Culture” in Shanghai.

Guangfulin Country Park is built around the five core elements of “field, water, road, forest, and village”, and is based on the natural ecological landscape of farming. It is composed of farm picking, fruiting scenery, wetland fishing villages, and camping bases. The block is divided int🅰o 12 areas, such as a rape flower field, green field trail, forest oxygen bar, Laolaiqing rice field, and leisurely trail in the paddy. Shanghai Pujiang River Source Scenic Spot is the starting point of Shanghai’s mother river, Huangpu River, also known as the “Zero Kilometer of Huangpu River”. The Xietang River and Yuanxiejing Creek, which meander from Jiangsu and Zhejiang, converge here to form a delta-shaped treasure land and flow into Huangpu River through Hengliaojing Creek. At the confluence of the three rivers, the river is vast, the sailboats in the river competing for the current, the nets rising and falling by the river, the reeds on the bund swaying, the pink peaches and green willows setting each other off. These breeds the endless scenery of a water town in the south of the Yangtze River, from which the scenic spot got its name “Pujiang River Source”. The whole scenic spot is divided into two parts: the aboveground part is “Shu-Liu-Li-Yun Pagoda” and “Chunshen Hall”, while the underground part is “Water Culture Exhibition Hall”. Songjiang Museum is a local chronicles museum, where the historical relics in Songjiang are collected, researched, and exhibited. T꧃he 2-storey exhibition room covers an area of 1,200 square meters. The basic exhibition of “Treasures Buried in the Sand”, which is divided into 3 portions named “Dawn of Huangpu River”, “Glisten of the Historical River” and “Painting Arts”, is on the second floor. The exhibition scientifically shows the cultural relics, which are held in the museum and unearthed in Songjiang, and reflects the achievements during the different periods of social development combined with landscape restoration, lightbox, multimedia, and other auxiliary display methods. The first floor is a temporary exhibition hall, and various special exhibitions are held🌟 from time to time. Located on the east and west sides outside the exhibition hall, the Stele Gallery is composed of long corridors and tablet pavilions. The East Stele Gallery displays the historical materials and inscriptions of Songjiang Prefecture during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The West Stele Gallery displays the calligraphic art inscriptions of Zhao Mengfu, Dong Qichang, and Shen Quan.

唐经幢

Sutra Pillar of the Tang Dynasty

松江唐(tang)经(jing)幢(chuﷺang)(chuang)在松江中山(shan)(shan)民办小学校园活(huo)动(dong)内，198七年年初被(bei)吉林省(sheng)人民政府对外(wai)公布(bu)为(wei)山(shan)(shan)东省(sheng)突出(chu)历(li)史文物保护(hu)计量单(dan)位区计量单(dan)位。建于唐(tang)大中十四年（859年），是现今佛山(shan)(shan)最悠久(jiu)的(de)路(lu)面建筑材(cai)料(liao)。经(jing)幢(chuang)✅(chuang)21级，高9.3米，八棱(leng)八面，故又叫为(wei)八棱(leng)碑，又名(ming)“唐(tang)经(jing)幢(chuang)(chuang)”，俗称“石塔”。

Sutra Pillar of the Tang Dynasty is located at the campus of Zhongshan Primary School, Songjiang. In January 1988, it was announced by the State Council as a national key cultural relics protection unit. Established in 859, the pillar is the oldest ground building in Shanghai. The pillar is built of 21 stone blocks with a height of 9.3 meters. With eight ridges and eight slides, it is also known as the Eight-Ridge Pillar, commonly known as the “Sutra Pillar of the Tang Dynasty”, also known as💝 the “Stone Pillar”.

Dacang Bridge

大仓(cang)桥(qiao)应用于永丰(feng)社区居委(wei♉)会中江西(xi)路仓(cang)桥(qiao)弄南，2016年4月被(bei)展示为成都市文化遗(yi)产保🌺(bao)护性机构，是座高(gao)10余米，夸度50余米的(de)五孔桥(qiao)拱大石(shi)桥(qiao)。桥(qiao)本名永丰(feng)，因桥(qiao)南为松江府漕运仓(cang)城，故学名大仓(cang)桥(qiao)。现为成都中南部举世闻名的(de)北京在明大石(shi)桥(qiao)之中。

Located at Cangqiao Lane South, West Zhongshan Road in Yongfeng Sub-distไrict, Dacang Bridge was announced as Shanghai municipal cultural relics protection unit in April 2014. The bridge spans 50 meters long and 10 meters high over the river. It was formerly known as Yongfeng Bridge and later named Dacang Bridge for there was Water Transport Warehouse City of Songjiang Prefecture to the south 𝔉of the bridge. It is one of the famous big stone bridges of the Ming Dynasty in Shanghai.

Mosque

松(song)江清真寺(si)(si)隶属于(yu)岳阳(yang)(yang)居(ju)委(wei)道路🧔桥居(ju)委(wei)会缸甏巷(xiang)75号，1980年(nian)(nian)11月(yue)被出炉为沈(shen)阳(yang)(yang)市文物保(bao)護(hu)保(bao)護(hu)基层单(dan)位，是沈(shen)阳(yang)(yang)地段最原始的(de)伊斯(si)兰教佛教寺(si)(si)院，初(chu)建于(yu)元(yuan)至正年(nian)(nian)里(li)（134半年(nian)(nian)—1367年(nian)(ni🧔an)），初(chu)名真教寺(si)(si)。清朝(chao)晚唐十六国时(shi)期过2次装修和开工(gong)建设，因而，目(mu)前的(de)清真寺(si)(si)原有元(yuan)代(dai)晚唐十六国时(shi)期的(de)工(gong)程(cheng)艺术(shu)风(feng)格(ge)，又有清朝(chao)隔代(dai)的(de)工(gong)程(cheng)优点。依据工(gong)程(cheng)产生(sheng)太大的(de)殿、窑(yao)(yao)殿、穿廊，另有南(nan)、北大讲堂，邦(bang)克(ke)门等，进(jin)来窑(yao)(yao)殿和邦(bang)克(ke)门2处最具该寺(si)(si)工(gong)程(cheng)优点。

Located at No.75 Gangbeng Alley, Maluqiao Neighborhood C🌺ommittee in Yueyang Sub-district, Songjiang Mosque was announced as Shanghai municipal cultural relics protection unit in August 1980. As one of the oldest mosques in Shanghai, Songjiang Mosque was built during 1341-1368, also named Zhenjiao Mosque. After many renovations and expansions during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the mosque today features the style of construction of the Yuan, Ming, and Qing Dynasties. The main buildings include Central Hall, Kiln Hall, Crossing Corridor, North and South Speech Hall, and Bangke Chamber. Among them, the Kiln Hall and Bangke Chamber can best represent the traits of the Mosque.

西林禅寺

Xilin Temple

西(xi)林禅寺(si)，名(ming)(ming)叫(jiao)崇恩寺(si)，建于南(nan)宋咸(xian)淳二十五七年（1265—1278年）。明洪武二十五年（138八(ba)年）新建，处于岳阳街镇(zhen)中山(sܫhan)间(jian)路6610号。明正(zheng)统(tong)皇(huang)敕封时赐名(ming)(ming)“大清西(xi)林禅寺(si)”。大雄宝殿后门的(de)有条塔(ta)，名(ming)(ming)圆应(ying)宝塔(ta)，别名(ming)(ming)“西(xi)林塔(ta)”。圆应(ying)塔(ta)（西(xi)林塔(ta)）19🃏82年11月被颁布为(wei)伤害市古物(wu)保(bao)護公司。塔(ta)身七层八(ba)面，砖木框架，塔(ta)高46.5米，迄今为(wei)止(zhi)仍为(wei)伤害中北部较高的(de)1座古塔(ta)。

Located at No.666 Middle Zhongshan Road in Yueyang Sub-district, Xilin Temple, also known as Chong’en Temple, was originally built during 1265-1274 and reconstructed in 1387. In Ming Dynasty, an emperor named it as Xilin Temple of Ming. Behind the main hall, there stands a 46.5-meter-high, 7-storey octagonal pagoda of brick and wood structure, which is called Yuanying Pagoda, also well-known as Xilin Pagoda. Announced as Shanghai municipal cultural relics protection unit in September 1982, this pagoda is the tallest ancient pagoda in Shangha🐽i.
